Bold Text Generator
Generate bold text using Unicode mathematical bold characters that work anywhere as plain text. Unlike HTML bold tags, these bold characters paste directly into social media bios, LinkedIn posts, Discord messages, and anywhere you type. No formatting required — just copy and paste.

Bold on Discord: Try Asterisks First
Most bold-text questions are about Discord: 'how to bold text in discord' and its variations add up to about 5,700 US searches a month (Ahrefs, October 2026). Discord has bold built in. Wrap words in two asterisks on each side — **like this** — and they post in bold. Add two underscores around that for bold underline: __**like this**__.
That is real formatting, so the words stay searchable. Use the generator above where Discord's formatting doesn't reach: your display name and server nicknames, which don't read Discord's formatting.
WhatsApp, Facebook and LinkedIn
WhatsApp has native bold too: one asterisk on each side, *like this*, in a chat. Facebook (about 3,500 searches a month across 'facebook bold text' and its generator version) and LinkedIn (about 1,100) are the other places people most often look for a bold generator.
One trade-off applies everywhere. Unicode bold letters are different characters from plain ones, so search inside an app may not match them, and screen readers may not read them as normal words. Keep names, keywords and anything people need to find in plain text, and bold the line around it.
Bold Numbers Work Too
Unicode has bold digits, which italic doesn't: 2026 becomes 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 in serif bold or 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 in sans bold. That lets prices, dates and stats match the bold words next to them. Punctuation and symbols stay as they are.
The two bold looks suit different places. Serif bold (𝐁𝐨𝐥𝐝) reads like a printed headline. Sans bold (𝗕𝗼𝗹𝗱) sits closer to the plain sans-serif text most apps use, so it blends into a caption or a post.
Bold in CSS and HTML
Making a web page? Don't paste Unicode bold into it — use real bold. In CSS that is font-weight: bold (or 700). In HTML, use <strong> for text that is important and <b> for text you only want to stand out. Real bold keeps the words searchable and readable by screen readers, and it follows your site's own font.
